Precision CNC Turning Services

Esco Precision turns tight-tolerance cylindrical and prismatic components on CNC lathes with live tooling, producing shafts, bushings, fittings, pins, and threaded parts complete off the machine.

Our turning centers combine main and sub-spindle work with driven (live) tooling, so features such as cross-holes, flats, slots, and milled details are produced in the same cycle as the turned profile. Done-in-one machining reduces handling, protects concentricity, and shortens lead times on complex round parts.

We hold diameter tolerances to ±0.0002 in (±0.005 mm) on critical features and control concentricity, roundness, and surface finish to demanding aerospace and medical requirements. Bar-fed production runs efficiently for higher volumes, while short-run and prototype parts are set up quickly from your model or drawing.

Turned diameters range from miniature pins up to roughly 12 in, in lengths suited to the feature and fixturing. As with milling, turning is frequently one operation within a larger routing — we combine it with secondary milling, EDM, grinding, and finishing so parts ship complete and inspected.

Every part runs to a documented control plan under our ISO 9001:2015 system, with first-article inspection and in-process gauging. Material certifications and inspection reports (including full dimensional and PPAP-style documentation) are available on request.

Frequently asked questions

What is live tooling and why does it matter?

Live (driven) tooling lets a turning center mill flats, slots, and cross-holes while the part is still in the lathe. Producing the whole part in one setup preserves concentricity and eliminates the errors and lead time of moving it to a second machine.

What diameter and length can you turn?

We turn diameters from miniature pins up to roughly 12 inches, in lengths appropriate to the geometry and fixturing. Send your model and we will confirm fit to our turning envelope on the quote.

How tight are your turning tolerances?

We hold ±0.0002 in (±0.005 mm) on critical diameters and control roundness, concentricity, and finish to aerospace and medical requirements, verified with CMM and in-process gauging.

Can you provide material certifications and inspection reports?

Yes. Material certs, first-article inspection reports, and full dimensional documentation are available on request under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
